DeMaso Appointed President Of Litton Marine Systems

WOODLAND HILLS, CALIFORNIA, Litton Industries (NYSE: LIT) announced today the promotion of John V. DeMaso to the position of president of its Litton Marine Systems (LMS) subsidiary. He replaces Dr. Clark "Corky" Graham who was appointed vice president of resource utilization and productivity improvement for Litton Ship Systems. Mr. DeMaso will report to Harry Halamandaris, Litton senior vice president and group executive, Litton Advanced Electronics.

Litton Marine Systems Introduces ECDIS Software Kit

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has introduced a new Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) software package for the international maritime industry.

The new ChartMaster ECDIS software, in kit form, is based on the company's proven Voyage Management System (VMS) software, and has been designed for easy installation on a wide range of hardware platforms.

Litton And Vistar Launch Strategic Alliance For Night Vision Technology

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems and VISTAR Night Vision Ltd. have formed a strategic alliance to develop and market night vision equipment for the marine industry.

The announcement was made by the two companies at the Fast Ferry International Conference and Exhibition in Nice, France, February 9, 2000.

Under the terms of the agreement, Litton and VISTAR will establish a Center of Excellence for marine night vision technology. The two companies will jointly develop future night vision technologies and market each other's respective products.

NG Introduces Type-Approved Flat-Screen ARPA Radars

Sperry Marine, a business unit of Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC), today announced that its Decca BridgeMaster E 340 is the first flat-screen radar to be type approved to meet the international carriage requirements for automatic radar plotting aids (ARPA).

The flat-screen radars provide significant savings in space and weight over traditional CRT displays. This is especially important for high-speed craft, in which size and weight are significant constraints.

NG to Install IBS on New Color Line Cruise Ferry

Color Line, an Oslo-based ferry operator, has selected Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit to supply navigation and communication systems for the world's largest cruise ferry, under construction at the Kvaerner-Masa-Yards in Turku, Finland.

NG Receives Approval to Service Ship Electronics

Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE: NOC) Sperry Marine business unit has been certified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to perform required annual surveys of radio installations on ships.

The ABS approval authorizes service engineers from Sperry Marine's nine U.S. service facilities to inspect and certify mandatory radio equipment, including Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems, Automatic Identification Systems, and Ship Security Alert Systems. Sperry Marine is also qualified to provide FCC certifications aboard U.S. flag vessels.

Marine Systems Wins IBS Orders For Four New RCI Cruise Ships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has won orders to supply integrated bridge systems (IBS) for four new cruise ships being built for Royal Caribbean International at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

With the new order for four ships, Litton has now booked IBS contracts for all six RCI Vantage-class cruise ships to be built at Meyer Werft.

Litton Marine Systems Introduces New-Generation Vessel Traffic System (VTS)

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - Litton Marine Systems has introduced a new IMO-compliant vessel traffic system (VTS) for locks, bridges, ports and coastal waters.

Litton's new VTS-Master-W is a new system utilizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and proprietary software running under Windows-98/NT. It is based on Litton's unique VTS-Master technology, which permits real-time remote display of raw video data from shore-based surveillance radars superimposed on geographical maps of the area.
